Brookwood wins battle of top-ten AAAAA teams, 2-1

Game: 04/15 - Houston County High School (Houston Co)
The #6 ranked Brookwood Broncos traveled to Houston County, currently ranked #10 and prevailed 2-1 to improve to 12-4 on the season. Brookwood took an early 1-0 lead when forward Theo Yang received a pass, turned and beat two defenders, then crossed to the ball to the far post where Robby Ryan slid to knock in the close range effort for his first high school goal. Ten minutes later Theo Yang once again connected to Robby Ryan who buried his header past the HOCO keeper for the 2-0 lead. With just minutes remaining before the half HOCO cut the lead in half off a corner kick that was headed twice before slipping past Jamie Deal in goal.
The second half was back and forth with both teams battling in the midfield. HOCO was kept to long range shot attempts while Brookwood managed four quality shots inside the box that were not converted. Brookwood held on to the 2-1 victory on the road to finish its road record at 6-1-0. Brookwood plays again on Wednesday night against Oconee County while we will celebrate our nine seniors.
Player of the match was Robby Ryan who tallied his first career goals as a Brookwood player.
